"Purposefully Feminine"

When I started this journey, I really wanted to learn to become all that He wants me to be as a woman. This week, as I approached the topic of biblical femininity, I cringed. Let's be honest, reading about how we are to submit to our husbands (etc...) is not exactly anyone's favorite topic. Somehow, I think we have become fearful that by following God's plan for femininity, that we are choosing to be "weak" or "doormats". I will admit, that I am right there with those of you who feel that way.

Some of my own biggest questions are:
1. What does it look to be feminine, in God's eyes?
2. What does true biblical submission look like?
3. How has the feminist movement helped to warp our minds in regards to the above?

My fears and preconceived notions have always led me to lightly skip over the sections of the Bible that call for me to be submissive. Yet lately, the more I meditate on God's truth, the more that I have come to realize that our attitude towards all of this has been heavily shaped by our culture. The feminist movement has certainly done us no favors. God is slowly re-shaping my perceptions in regards to this, and I hope yours is too in my next several posts. God has called for us to be so much more than weak.

Be patient with me, friends. God is dealing with me in big ways. Please pray for me.

As I wait,
Alicia
